Launched by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in cooperation with the FDA, USDA, and the CDC, FoodSafety.gov offers numerous tools to help make sure that your organic food is safe. Tips on how to properly heat and clean food, a list of government food regulations, safe food storage procedures, recall notices, and food alerts are just some of its many features. The site is also helpful for those who may have issues keeping food safe. Whether you’re a tailgater grilling under the scorching sun in less than ideal sanitary conditions, a new college student unaccustomed to fending for themselves for their next meal, or merely need a reminder on the do’s and don’ts of safe standard food preparation, you’re bound to discover something for yourself.
The White House is listed as one of the contributing government agencies on the bottom of the site’s home page, and one can assume that the website is in large part due to the Obama Administration’s recent campaign for a healthier future. The website is reliable and extremely useful, especially with the increasing amount of food recalls in recent years.
