Casablanca - Restaurant Review
Casablanca offers a truly authentic dining experience fit for kings. The setting is sensual and relaxing, with soft lighting, vibrant textiles, and plush booths. Belly dancers and live music transport guests away from the present, evoking traditions and rich pleasures from the other side of the continent. The set menus, either regular or vegetarian, offer an ideal way to sample traditional Moroccan fare: seven courses beginning with soup, concluding with mint tea, and in between offering an abundance of flavorful, aromatic, and traditional Moroccan dishes. To cap off the delightfully traditional dining experience, be sure to order one of the Moroccan wines offered.

Rx
Address: 4443 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (Map)
Located in the heart of University City, Rx is a pleasantly anomalous contribution to its tree-lined, residential neighborhood. Rx has received much critical acclaim from local and regional reviews since opening in 2001, and while it would be easy to attribute this continued success to bandwagon celebrity, such presumptions are a grave disservice to the creativity and effortless skill of Chefs Neal Mayton and Bertin Lopez and proprietor Greg Salisbury. One need only sample the ever-changing menu of seasonal, locally-grown fare in the hospitable former pharmacy to understand why this restaurant is the darling of University City.

Brandywine Prime
Address: 1617 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford, PA 19317 (Map)
Brandywine Prime infuses tradition and history with a refreshing dose of modernity. The 200-year old Chadds Ford Inn, which houses Brandywine Prime, has been stripped of its outdated and worn down stuffiness and given a chic new personality with sleekly minimalist accents. The menu is anything but antiquated, featuring such dishes as Pan Seared Diver Scallops with Creamy Chorizo Orzo and Coconut Rum Shrimp Tempura to enliven the senses. For palate purists, a hearty selection of prime cuts of beef offer succulently tender indulgences.

Pod
Address: 3636 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (Map)
Restaurateur Stephen Starr’s vision of the future burns bright in the University City section of Philadelphia where Pod dishes out Asian fusion cuisine in an atmosphere that is a playful cross between Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Jetsons. Fresh sushi, dim sum, and full entrees are served in Pod’s sleek, high-tech dining space. The restaurant’s glossy, pure white interior, accentuated by concentric circles of blue, orange, and purple lighting and flooded with the pulse of ambient music, boldly transports patrons to a culinary destination that is truly ahead of its time.
