Bookbinder’s Restaurant
Address: 125 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106
Established in 1865, Old Original Bookbinder's restaurant has long been a Philadelphia landmark for legendary seafood. With a recently renovated interior and the addition of Executive Chef David Cunningham, the restaurant is still well worth a visit almost a century and a half later. Diners rave about the enormous lobsters, which are prepared fresh from an appropriately-proportioned lobster tank that holds over 350 of the crustaceans at once. Cunningham’s contemporary menu both pays homage to “Bookie’s” legacy, with original dishes such as snapper soup and strawberry shortcake, and adds a delectably modern twist with dishes such as tuna tartare and spice-crusted swordfish.

Modo Mio
Address: 161 West Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19123
Peter McAndrews, Executive Chef of Modo Mio (Italian for “my way”), has taken traditional Italian cuisine and done it his way. The restaurant recreates the ambiance of an Italian osteria, with a quaint, homey setting that takes guests right into the heart of old Italy. Diners can experience Chef McAndrew’s innovative approach to rustic Italia through the scores of regional dishes from Sicily and Northern Italy, as well as appetizing Italian-American creations. Scrumptious pastas, such as the Agnolotti in creamy almond butter sauce, are complemented by a variety of rich entrees like the Braciolette, a sausage-stuffed steak topped by melted provolone, all at reasonable prices. Modo Mio is a great place for friends and family, where traditional Italian cuisines are made deliciously original.
