Figs
Address: 2501 Meredith Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130 (Map)
Braised meats cook slowly while seductive aromas – saffron, cinnamon, ginger – waft into the air, cause diners’ mouths to water with anticipation. A smattering of mostly local, casually dressed guests, are spread evenly among the neatly outfitted tables. Such is the atmosphere at Figs, a cozy Fairmount stronghold since 2001. The dinning area of this pumpkin-colored Moroccan BYOB is small, and it can barely contain the spicy flavors emanating from Executive Chef/Owner Mustapha Rouissiya’s North African dishes.
